Company Philosophy
From 1936 to the present day the philosophy behind Shirley’s Transport has always been to give the customer, whatever their size, a 100% service and never make promises that cannot be carried out. This has resulted in the Company gaining a strong reputation for quality, service and reliability which has resulted in a high degree of customer loyalty. This, in turn, has enabled the Company to build relationships with customers that span in excess of 30 years. Both Directors are actively involved in the Company on a day to day basis and are backed up by key personnel who have over 200 years service between them. The Transport Managers are all time-served tanker drivers and as such have a wealth of experience to call upon during the day to day running of the business.

Employee Profile
The work force currently consists of 100 employees, with over half having completed at least 10 years service. The Company’s objective is to recruit excellent drivers and staff, with a view to long term employment. This aids the stability and continuity of the business and keeps customer service at constantly high levels. The vast majority of Shirley’s tanker drivers are “home grown” having been taught by Mr. A. Shirley to carry out their duties to the exacting standards that Shirley’s require. Very few of Shirley’s tanker drivers have prior tanker experience. The average length of experience among our tanker drivers is 10 years, with some having spent upwards of 20 years driving tankers for Shirley’s. Again this vast experience serves to keep customer service at a high level.
